^ I am not defending the Islamic faith, nor attacking it, just pointing out that there is plenty to "despise" in our very own Christian religion as well. The Muslims don't have a patent on hatred, they just have a different way of expressing it. Of course they hate, they are humans just like AyG ? ? ? I would say that a lot of those people who either gave the command or "pushed the button" on atomic bombs being dropped, conventional bombs being dropped (by the hundreds of thousands) and wars declared that cost millions of lives..................................were Christians, just like me.

..............................I don't hate Moslems. I simply despise their hateful religion"................................... OK AyG, so you despise their hateful religion (which, in itself is a bit ironic, that you "despise" something because it is "hateful") I want you to do something for me. I want you to read the following list of 30 quotes taken from the Bible, the Quran or Hadith. Try to work out where each quote came from. If something is "hateful" (i.e. "very unpleasant" [Cambridge Dictionary]), then it's perfectly natural to despise it. So, not sure what your point is. As for your quotations, all the Biblical ones, bar one, come from the Old Testament. The one from the New Testament, "Think not that I am come to send peace on earth: I came not to send peace, but a sword. For I am come to set a man at variance against his father, and the daughter against her mother, and the daughter in law against her mother-in-law. And a man's foes shall be they of his own household" does not suggest that Jesus advocated violence, but rather that violence would be the response of those who oppose his teaching. After all, he was murdered (effectively) by the Romans, and by the Jewish authorities who felt threatened what he preached. Clearly, Christianity (where the teachings of Jesus abrogate much of the Old Testament) is a religion whose scriptural teachings are non-violent. The only similar abrogation in the Koran is where violent verses (from the Medina period) abrogate those of the more peaceful and tolerant Meccan period. And let us not forget, during his time in Mecca Mohammed only attracted a handful of followers and had to flee after declaring his (unpopular) intention to stage a violent revolution against the authorities there. He was much more successful with his intolerant, violent, misogynistic and hate-filled teachings of the Medina period - and that is his legacy, not the Meccan teachings. I'm not saying that Christianity is a good thing. I think all religion is ludicrous - there is no invisible sky wizard. It's just that, relatively speaking, the teachings of Islam are far viler than those of Christianity. If mankind were to grow up, all religion would be eschewed.

So how do you eschew it? Mao's way, Stalin's way, your way? I prefer understanding and common ground. Man needs beliefs, whether religious or purely philosophical. The latter is the key to understanding and faith is part of it. To choose ones beliefs is my ideal, but to impose my ideals on any is to deny my ideal.

Forgive me AyG, but I feel part of your hatred is because of the discrimination of your self. Has that not changed, the discrimination? It has slowly in some places in the west. In Thailand, it is sort of a non problem. You are what you are.It can be in your face, farang, black, gay, tom or any number of discrimination of the west. Thailand; you are what you are. Live with it. Cause no harm , do not unsettle the surface of the water and be. Unsettle the water, sure there are severe consequences. Is this right an ideal? I think not. But I do not throw stones into the pond.

See this debate is still buzzing around ..as i stated in another thread they are all as bad as each other and the root of all 3 religions is the same, in other words Islam, christ followers and the jews are all referring to the same doctrines and fairy storys and all three are branches or sects of the same root "religion which has been adapted /modifed to suit what ever agenda the leaders of these sects had.. The origin of all these religions it is believed comes from ancient egyptian monothesim as advocated by Akhenaten, there is recent study which suggests hebrew in its orginal form is derived from egyptian hieroglyphics In other words the Jews nicked their religion from the gypos, and the christ followers/muzzies nicked their religions off the Jews The analogy on these religions is simple....its like football...the core game is kicking a pigs bladder around, there are multiple teams who have difference ways of playing the game, and there are certain clubs and teams whose supporters hate each other and are prepared to get physical over whose team is the best.....but the fundamental game is still kicking a pigs bladder around

A guy I knew was in the army. He's Yorkshire born but raised in Glasgow. He joined the army, and was home on leave from a tour in N Ireland. His mates took him around the protestant pubs, and introduced him to their mates. Comments like " I hope you give those catholic barstewards what for" etc. After the 7th pub he was that fed up he responded "Why should i ? I'm catholic. His mates dragged him out. After they asked him what his game was he explained. He got that every day in the army, he didn't need the hatred on leave.
