Girlfriends not liking blue cheese is a godsend, your cheese stash is safe.
Me personally I love cheese, especially British cheeses. If the Froggies were to ever learn how to make cheese as well as the Brits then it may be worth visiting France but at the moment I am spared this indignity.
Currently my favourite is Shropshire Blue, which despite the name originates (arguably) from Inverness and was originally called 'Blue Stuart'.

BTW, while I talk about French cheese being sub standard to British cheese, I will say that their cheese is slightly (ever so slightly) better than American cheese.

You mean QI? actually I had a customer bring me some Shropshire Blue as a gift about 3 years ago and immediately fell in love with it, so I did some research and found out about its origin. When the question was asked on QI I already knew the answer but unfortunately it was the only answer that I would have gotten correct. Incidentally, Wikipedia suggests that QI may be wrong and that it may have actually been first produced by Westry Roberts Farm in Shropshire in the 1970s, which predates the production of 'Blue Stuart. Either way, I would crawl over broken glass just to taste this delightful fermented curd.
