One thing I like about Thai 7-11's in Thailand, when you walk in you can be almost certain there will be a Thai person behind the counter.
In Australia every single 7-11 is run by Indians. And they are usually the very arrogant and surly ones. I blacklisted them years ago after having an argument with this obnoxious prik about the exhorbitant prices he was charging.
Apparently an Indian company has the rights to 7-11 franchises over there. Recently they went to court after being busted underpaying their staff. They were doing a deal with arranging visas and getting people out there to work in shops and in some cases paying them as little as $2.50 an hour. Theiving baskets !

I had an altercation with a katoey once, one I had known for some time.
It came from nowhere, luckily it was wearing flip-flops and there was no knives around.
I wanted to give it a crack for a split second, maybe if I had I wouldn't be here writing this, there was too many locals around.

What if is a good question - we all place ourselves into situations of imaginary risk.
The trick is to not let imaginary risk overtake daily reality, as it has done in many western countries.
In our day, summer holidays involved you running out the door as soon as you woke up, and using your house as a filling station as you played football, cycled, and climbed trees all day.
These many ( not all ) kids are tied to the garden because their parents have crapped themselves after reading about a murder ten years ago that happened five hundred miles away.

^ I tried that, it doesn't work !  When I first came to Thailand a lady who had run bars for many years in BKK was telling me about what happens when a fight breaks out - If it's farangs fighting each other the cops stand back and laugh, If it's ladyboys fighting they are very wary about getting involved,, If it's Thai girls fighting the cops don't even turn up ! |

I watched a big group of drunk farang once get into a fight with Thai guys. Maybe 10 of them vs same amount of Thais. They had the situation sorted but the Thais started coming out of the shadows from all sides and gave those tourists a working over big time
Never p**s Asians off which those boys learnt the hard way that night

Yes, and the same thing would happen in a lot of countries, locals seem to stick together.
Drunk farangs who get into fights with Thais on their turf deserve whatever they get. Most of the time it's the farangs who start it.
Seen it happen in Soi 1 off Loi Kroh, CM, just down from the Number 1 Bar. Crazy thinking they have a chance against Thais in their own neighbourhood.

Friends in America tell me they are to the same tricks over there. Buying up gas stations and run down motels and as mentioned above scamming the workers. |
