Imagine a lot just use the microwave.... 4 minutes in a quart Pyrex measuring cup.... Pop it in - find something else to do for 4 minutes & it's done.... We have various other coffee making things including the tea kettle.... But my wife uses the drip coffee maker to make some kind of herb/flower tea....It actually works & tea with honey is a nice warm touch up on these cold Chiang Mai mornings..... Microwaving water can pose a risk of burns especially in places where bottled water is used such as Thailand. Basically it superheats and when it comes in contact with a contaminant such as a spoon it'll explode Noted - our water is filtered & tends not to boil - have noticed boiling only one time ; dirt in container? Wonder now what the temp gets up to when I use the Nordic Ware microwave pressure cooker....

In theory and dependent on the altitude you can get your water upto 120 c /250 F, its all a function pressure but most pressure cookers operate at around 1 bar or 15 psi for the metric blind
