Heard third hand that the British Embassy house might get a reprieve.
Don't believe it myself....money talks more than anything in London nowadays.

On the 24th of February we still had "Central pays record price for British Embassy Bangkok site Central Group has set a new Thai real estate record in its successful bid for the British Embassy Bangkok site. Central will pay more than THB20 billion (US$572 million) for the 23-rai plot of land on Wireless Road in Ploen Chit, adjacent to its existing Central Embassy shopping mall. The company plans to construct a mixed-use project on the land, which – given the land price tag – will undoubtedly require a very tall office and apartment complex in order to recover the capital investment. It will connect to Central Embassy." insideretail.asia/2017/02/24/central-pays-record-price-for-british-embassy-bangkok-site/

Here are a heap of ideas for the new premises, British style ! Hardly "British style". That's Irish traveller style and that of Gippos as I believe our Romani cousins now prefer to be called.

Rumoured to be the new BE in BKK Perhaps as planned by His Excellency Asif Ahmad. (Remember how he got bacon and pork sausages banned in the Embassy?)

His Excellency probably saw the latest figures on the obesity rates in the UK, hence the ban. Better to eat lentils and goat meat.

Better to eat lentils and goat meat. Oh no! The goats are for <ducking>, not eating. It's the Islamic way.

With PM May's program for Global Trade Agreements there may come anewed focus on the role of Embassies in facilitating trade, supporting the new Department for International Trade. This may be a good reason to try to keep some nice place as the British Embassy is still on. " ... One Foreign Office document seen by the Guardian stresses the need to emphasise the links between those working in British embassies across the world and the new department for international trade. “Noting that trade is not just FTAs” is key, it adds, as senior embassy roles – including in New York – are readvertised with a trade emphasis. ... We'll see how much investment we can pull in once we reinstate slave labour for council house dwellers and other workshy sorts. .
