How about instead of stricter enforcement how about they start with "some" enforcement and progress from there ?

Guy who built our house is now building another house next door, he is cracking up because the cops are harassing him for carrying workers on the back of his pickup.
He brings them to work and takes them home at night as they all live the other side of Hang Dong.
They will just have to find their own way to work. Or pay a fine everyday which is about half their day's pay.
Every time there is an accident reported on the news involving a pickup I cringe, expecting the worse.

It's going to be chaos in the school runs and pickups converted into buses. Wife has seen it on TV, and she is talking about getting belts fitted on the bench seat.

OK a post over at TVF suggests riding on the bench seat was already illegal. Is this became of the lack of belts? Why were these trucks allowed to be built? Anyone know how much it would cost to get belts fitted?

The thing is, it wouldnt be hard to design and install seating arrangements / roll over with belts etc for the beds of a pick up, which are connected to the chassis and are easily removeable if you dont need to carry people, but the sprag in this cunning plan is typically most countries in the world ban riding in the back of a Ute

I remember when they banned it in Australia, must have been about forty years ago now. It was just after a number of people were killed riding on the back of a ute.
Funny thing is you can legally travel in a vehicle without a seatbelt, if that vehicle came out standard without seatbelts. At least that used to be the law.

I've seen plenty here on my travels.

Exactly, just like the 90 day ritual resurrected by one of Thaksin's mates at the behest of Thaksin

To the Thais upset that a forgotten rule or law now applies. Welcome to the expats life. 555 We should not really complain when a long standing law is enforced, they have every right to do it. But who is the bad guy here ? The current mob that are suddenly enforcing it or the previous lot/s who were turning a blind eye to it ? For instance, I have done many border crossings since 2005 and have never been asked to show money coming back in. The riding on the back of the pickup is going to make it hard for some but it really is for their own good. The helmet law is the one, and carrying babies on motorbikes, especially without helmets. Would not worry me if they enforced that one.

Exactly, just like the 90 day ritual resurrected by one of Thaksin's mates at the behest of Thaksin To be fair, after the Immigration Department got a bit more serious on 90-day reporting the first time I reported after having spent about three years continuously in Thailand I only had to sign a paper (on the line with 'the accused') and maybe pay 500 or 1000 Baht and that was it. Seems nowadays the consequences are a bit more dire
