Wales is definitely on my list of places to return to one day, along with Scotland and Ireland; and England for now. Fond and very funny memories. Terrific people.

There was a doco series years ago where this lucky bastardo went all over the world filming the different ways various cultures conduct bbq's.
Very interesting and mouthwatering. The SA one I think they called a "brai", it was done on a bed of charcoal, looked good.
Best steak I ever ate was cooked on an open fire in the desert, lit up a spinifex bush, steak and onion cooked on an old shovel.

A South African fitter I worked with in Brisbane used to bring in some sort of jerky, can't remember what sort of meat it was but once you started eating it you couldn't stop. Best I ever ate. The packet stuff they sell in bars is rubbish, like burnt cardboard.
When I worked on that big trawler in the northern waters off the NT and WA we used to cut up strips of Spanish Mackerel and hang them on stainless wire on the radar scanner, let it spin around for a week. That was nice chewing as well.
