Today, after 15 months since learning how to walk again, I will reach the 1,000 km milestone (or is that kilometerstone ?)
Also in that time I have done over 57,000 squats and 56,000 heel lifts.
Have started doing more walking without the stick, which felt really weird at first, but now I go out without it and it's getting easier all the time. In the last week I have walked 36 km and 12km of that was without the stick.
I took my first real steps on the 15th of March 2016, when I was doing rehab up in QLD, staying at a mate's house. Could not come back to Thailand at that stage as I was have so many cancer checkups, MRI, CAT and PET scans, as well as X-RAYS AND ULTRA SOUNDS.

What kind of footwear do you use?
Try some nike air with the visible air bubbles/cushion in the sole, if you've not done before

Only one thing is missing. A dog.
But go with one that walks calmly and doesn't pull the leash.

I am using some no-name brand shoe at the moment but am about to get serious and buy something better like Nike, worth the money and my feet/walking would benefit no end. Have no shortage of company when it comes to dogs. There are some I throw rocks at but also some nice ones who often walk me down the street. Not sure if it is for company on their behalf, or protection.
