"we win big. It’s easy!" Simple minded comes to my mind. What Trump seems to forget is market forces, and why America got itself in this deficit corner. Didn't the Republican party love the 'free market' mechanism? Let the market and industries 'naturally' work things out through unregulated competition? Seems only when we can profit from it? Maybe a boycot of Trump branded hotels will let him see the let? After all having a big, real big president promoting his hotels is unfair competition and probably against certain WTO rules. Not having to fear the USA anymore as it withdraws from the stage, maybe now people and countries dare to speak up. Not the UK, they want to swap unreliable E.U. for stable America "Donald Trump: ‘Trade wars are good’ US president has imposed tariffs on steel and aluminum imports. ... Trump tweeted: “When a country (USA) is losing many billions of dollars on trade with virtually every country it does business with, trade wars are good, and easy to win. Example, when we are down $100 billion with a certain country and they get cute, don’t trade anymore — we win big. It’s easy!”" www.politico.eu/article/donald-trump-trade-wars-are-good/

When might wonder how the 'trade war' will effect Britain's plans to go it alone. "EU says it will hit back at Donald Trump with tariffs on Harley Davidsons, Bourbon whiskey, and Levi’s jeans The European Union is to slap tariffs on stereotypical American products such as Harley Davidson motorbikes, Levi’s blue jeans and Bourbon whiskey in retaliation for Donald Trump’s new import tariffs, in a major escalation of the brewing trade war between the two powers. European Commission president Jean-Claude Juncker told German television that the EU would not “put our head in the sand” after Mr Trump announced the introduction of a 25 per cent “America First” import tariff on steel and 10 per cent on aluminium. “We will put tariffs on Harley-Davidson, on bourbon and on blue jeans – Levis,” Mr Juncker said on Friday speaking on German television. “We are here and they will get to know us. We would like a reasonable relationship to the United States, but we cannot simply put our head in the sand.”" www.yahoo.com/news/eu-says-hit-back-donald-184900613.html

Trump is openly looking for a good trade deal with post Brexit Britain. Truth is Obongo's disgusting threats (typical libtard) helped Brits wake the heck up and vote to Brexit.

Skipping insults and going back to a 'simple' trade war, don't forget this is all about Trump, ehm, er, ..., America First that is. An America which is currently ruled lead by a Republican President backed by a Republican House and Senate and not caring a fig about others. The advantage of a brexit is a much diminished Britain which can be forced persuaded more easily to accept America's First. PS seems not only I but a few more members here were always wrong in blaming 'Brussels' for the brexit. We should have known it was that Muslim chap from Kenia

Trade Wars are getting better. Trump threatens the EU28 if they don't take his measures laying down. "Trump threatens to tax European auto imports U.S. President Donald Trump kept up pressure on trading partners on Saturday, threatening European automakers with a tax on imports if the European Union retaliates against his plan to slap tariffs on aluminum and steel. Trump's tweet suggested he is refusing to yield to U.S. business interests and foreign trading partners alarmed at the prospect of a trade war that rattled financial markets this week." finance.yahoo.com/news/trump-threatens-tax-european-auto-imports-223109396--finance.htmlAs an aside #dearDonaldTrump expressed some ideas. Applauded by Republicans. Maybe someone should read "The Life of Julius Caesar" "Trump says maybe US will have a president for life someday President Donald Trump says he thinks it's great that China's president now holds that office for life and muses that maybe the U.S. will do the same someday. Trump's remarks were met with laughter and applause during a luncheon for Republican donors Saturday at his South Florida estate. CNN said it obtained a recording of the remarks." www.yahoo.com/news/trump-says-maybe-us-president-life-someday-013540040--politics.html

Oh, by the way
""The European Union: brutal. They've been brutal to us," Trump said at a Florida fundraiser. "They've banded together in order to beat the United States in trade.""
I guess someone should explain how the United States of America banded together

Seems dearDonaldTrump just said that we've not in a Trade War with China because that was already lost by people before him. Not sure where we stand though, I mean in total both sides added US120 billion in import duties. Doesn't sound like real peanuts.
I fear that it's more a Trump trying to distance himself from a "trade wars are easy" remark from oh so long ago, 33 days that is.

So true it will come back in the hands of the National Guard bayonets and other assorted ordinance when they are turned out to control and restore civil order after the riots, looting and goodness knows what other anti social activities may be pursued by those who are destroyed by Tronald Dumps insane policies.

As everyone who listens (to Trump) knows trade wars are easy to win. Furthermore Trump never loses, Trump always wins, etc., etc. and some more blabla, blablabla. I guess we will soon get some show master distraction, maybe a twitterstorm on all those bad illegal immigrants, or on the Democrats, or CNN and Amazon. Anything to deflect from a possible trade war which Trump already seems to have lost whatever he or the WH spokesliars say. "White House Tries to Tamp Down Trade War Fears as China Retaliates White House officials moved quickly on Wednesday to calm fears of a potential trade war with China, saying the administration’s proposed tariffs were a “threat” that would ultimately help, not hurt, the United States economy, hours after China said it would punish American products with similar levies. The administration’s insistence that a trade war was not imminent came as the United States and China traded tit-for-tat penalties that caused wild swings in stock markets from Hong Kong to New York. Led by more audacious leaders than either country has had in decades, China and the United States are now locked in a perilous game of chicken, with the possibility to derail the global economic recovery, disrupt international supply chains and destabilize the huge yet debt-laden Chinese economy." www.nytimes.com/2018/04/04/business/the-united-states-is-starting-a-trade-war-with-china-now-what.html?emc=edit_th_180405&nl=todaysheadlines&nlid=393196530405

Your Trump obsession is laughable, Rubl.
He's right to have this trade war with China. Most of us will be dead by 2050, the year targeted by the Chinese as to when they will ( once again in their opinion ) achieve world economic and strategic dominance.
It will not be a benign dominance.

Interesting that reporting on the President of the United States of America is seen as laughable obsession. Isn't America the greatest, real greatest country in the World? Isn't everyone trembling when the Twitter Monster wakes up? Anyway, Trump's WH spokes liars were very busy yesterday trying to explain that America is not involved in a Trade War with China. Next we have Trump contradicting them. Guess WH staff will have a field day twisting that around. Trump inherited an America booming, a World finally getting into stride again after years of decline and austerity to solve the follies of those before. Now it would seem we on the road down again.
