Ladies and Gents, please join me in raising a glass for NGD (National Gerbil Day)
As many are aware, NGD is celebrated (almost religiously) throughout Thailand on 5th July.
From North to South the festivities will be once again captivate the Thai nation, as they celebrate the most important of dates on the rodent calendar.
And yet, there are many who believe that the true spirit and meaning of NGD is lost and is now celebrated for the wrong reasons
In recent years this day has become commercialised to the point that we are now seeing NGD advertisements as early as mid June.
It is said that the only company that are involved with NGD who do not use this day as just another marketing tool is TigerClaw Industries (TCI).
In fact TCI do more to promote NGD than any other organisation, be they commercial or NGGOs (Non Governmental Gerbil Organisations).
So what is NGD really all about?
NGD was originally to pay our respects to all of the rodents (not just the gerbils) who laid down their lives in the Richard Gere War of 2001.
It was this war that forced through legislation with led to the Gerbil Protection Act of 2004 (3rd revision).
This in turn led to the invention of the TGAU and subsequently the GERU, as safety measures for both gerbilists and Gerbils alike.
So when you raise your glass to NGD, please remember what this day is all about.
