I posted this on several forums and maybe I get lucky here.
3 Years ago I started having breathing difficulties after a severe cold (or some kind of a flu). I was right away diagnosed with asthma, but was always suspicious of diagnosis especially since asthma meds have very little effect (actually most of the time they make breathing worse) except Ventolin.
The more I read about it the more I suspected silent reflux, so a few months ago I went to a hospital here in Thailand to do an endoscopy. Doc confirmed Hiatal Hernia and Reflux. Indeed, when I do take antiacid pills the breathing improves somewhat, but I am still unable to take a deep satisfying breath.
I read on several sites that if you have problems breathing in it's reflux. If you have problems breathing out it's Asthma.
Anyone here can help a bro? I mean I would go do more tests, but I don't really know what to do.

Did you go back to that doctor for a follow up? Maybe you need a different medicine.

I went to many followups. Did the tests. Lung doctor will say it's asthma, just because they know no better. Went to see another "famous" Thai lung doctor at Chula and he said and I quote "It is hard to diagnose asthma".
Last year I started developing a lump in throat feeling. This is when I figured it must be reflux. I have no obvious symptoms of GERD, but the acid must be somehow getting into my lungs. Diet and all the usual acid reflux stuff is not helping. I don't even drink alcohol.

When I lived in BKK years ago I also had this 'short of breath' thing going. Never had asthma, never on any meds, also had tests done there, it becomes a vicious cycle.
It's the environment killing you. Every time I was out of the place I was fine. Have you had allergy tests done? Dust mites, anything and as people get older you become more sensitive to things in the air. If you go back to your home country do you still have the same symptoms? That's the key and a diagnosis from doctors there.

Actually I got these symptoms in Canada. When I moved to Thailand it was better for a few months then it got progressively worse. I am thinking this is food and/or anxiety related.

Get a big-ish bowl, fill it with salt, pour water on it then put it on your bedside table. Leave a fan on to circulate the salt air. Give it a few days.... I'm not being rude with this comment but OP have you tried a beach location?
