October 2025 EOS (end of service) My private notebook is too old to run W11, according to the normal check. I guess I could still try with some tweeking but why bother. By October 2025 it might no longer work anyway "Microsoft is done with major Windows 10 updates Microsoft will end support for the operating system in 2025. Windows 10 22H2 will be the final version of the operating system, Microsoft said in a blog post on Thursday. Moving forward, all editions of Windows 10 will be supported with monthly security updates until October 14th, 2025, when Microsoft will end support. (Some releases on the Long-Term Servicing Channel, or LTSC, will get updates past that end of support date.)" www.theverge.com/2023/4/27/23701134/microsoft-windows-10-updates-end-of-support

An update on Windows 10 extended support for those who which to pay for such. "Windows 10 support ends in October 2025 — here's what it'll cost to keep using it securely ... The extended support program can give you an extra three years of security updates for Windows 10, but it costs $61 per device for the first year. This price doubles for the next two years ($122 in Year Two, $244 in Year Three), and if you opt in during year two or three, you'll have to pay for any update years you'd missed because the "ESUs are cumulative." ..." "Microsoft announces a new threat to push people to Windows 11 Microsoft is sharing more details of its plans to transition customers still using Windows 10 from a free offering to a paid structure if they wish to continue receiving security updates. ..." Rumour has it Bill Gates retired and about half of his fortune went to his ex after the divorce. So blaming Billy for what he no longer controls might sound nice but has no real meaning or value. All IMHO of course.
