Lord Janner, the former Labour peer and MP ruled unfit to stand trial on child sexual abuse charges, has died. He had been suffering from dementia and died peacefully at his home on Saturday aged 87, his family said. The peer had been accused of 22 counts of historical sex offences against boys - allegations his family denied. A "trial of the facts" set for April will no longer take place. A lawyer representing alleged victims said they had been denied justice. Continues www.bbc.com/news/uk-politics-35142675

Sounds like his victims will be raising a glass. I think they would rather have had their day in court - and I reckon a few other senior politicians will be breathing a sigh of relief.

Sounds like his victims will be raising a glass. His alleged victims. No reason to think their allegations are true. Just another bunch of attention seekers who don't care about the reputation of a decent man. I feel sorry for his family that his name has been dragged through the mud. About time the law was changed so that people accused of such activities remain anonymous until proven guilty.

Don't know the chap in question but protection? Then you'd have the Rolf Harrises of the world running around still. If people are innocent then hopefully justice will prevail. Rolf Harris has been reprimanded by jail bosses after sending a letter mocking his victims as “money-grabbing woodworms”. www.mirror.co.uk/news/uk-news/rolf-harris-jail-trouble-sends-5959802

<Bunny boiler> those accused should have the same anonymity as the accuser until they are found guilty.
The smear of a false accusation can stay with someone for a long time.

I don't believe in trial by media. How much is actually known of the man in question? But 22 historical cases? One or five but 22?
You would actually believe 22 boys made this story up?

There's been a lot of coaching of people considered potential victims in sex abuse cases over recent years - coaching which has put false memories in people's heads. Then there's the thought of getting thousands of pounds compensation for saying "yes, he touched me". Remember that Lord Janner was never even arrested - there hasn't been the evidence. Others have been arrested (Freddie Star, Paul Gambaccini, Jim Davidson amongst others), only to be subsequently cleared of all wrongdoing.
