An Englishman living in the Thai capital of Bangkok has told friends of how he endured a 10-hour coach journey to the far-ff northern outpost of Loei which is situated about six hours from the capital. Yes, that's right. Six hours. Not ten. The arduous, and seemingly never-ending venture, which commenced at 9pm on Friday night, was transformed into a Hannibal-like expedition by a series of unnecessary stops for 'noodles and a p**s'. The man, Moys Kenwood, 47, eventually arrived at the temple destination at Loei at 7am on Saturday morning, looking 'rather haggard'. He said: "I was expecting some arseache, but this was something else. It was arduous, laborious and gruelling, which all mean relatively the same thing." Kenwood's girlfriend, who accompanied him on the jaunt, was similarly unimpressed by the coach driver's penchant for stopping every time he saw a 7Eleven or a toilet sign, but her comments are unpublishable, even here . www.thespoof.com

They should try the rush for the disabled toilet at Charnock Richards service station on a Friday night....almost everyone on the bus had struck it lucky...coach style blind date!

Said Englishman should stop bring such ucking cheap Charlie and buy his teerak the pick up she desires and then these problems will not happen as she will bugger off with the car and leave him, so he has no reason to get on said bus in the first place

When will these dumb suckers realise there is nothing but pain misery and heartache north of BKK, just give the mrs 1,000 baht for the return busfare and head for Pattaya instead, makes much more sense, plenty of farang food available, nice a/c bars and people you can talk to, lets be honest, whats up there, heat and humidity, not for me, .

This guy is a wimp, when i think of the 16 hours from Bombay to Goa back in 1990,or a bone shaking trip of 14 hours in Guatemala, where they had a couple of spare axle's in the center isle.

Or the nice long second class sleeper with the guy bought on in a litter and put on the opposite seat looking like he had smallpox. He was going to Varannassi to die.

Agree, that is an awful trip,i went Agra to Varanasi,it took forever, heaps of people barging on without tickets, singing half the night, and trying to squeeze onto your bunk, the worst train trip i have ever had.

I found the trains very good. Of course if you did not have a reservation you had problems. Many of the problems are misunderstandings. You say "Your bunk" bud did you know that with a bunk 4 people were alowed to sit during the day in second class and 3 in first. The bunk was really only reserved at night. This is the rules. In 6 months only one train cancelled and olnly 3 more than an hour late after journeys of 12 hours plus.

Basically I was inferring he had to deal/be/sit with himself....lot's of turmoil there.....along with the % that seems high for a group....for dissenchantment - to say it nicely

I went to Varannassi in 2007 for business, actually went north of there to a place called Bahdohi. All I can remember of the place is the musty smell of the carpet in the dimly lit hotel we stayed in.
