The UK news said a swerve to avoid a parked vehicle into the truck, but it's news and was took with a pinch of salt.
I won't discuss my opinion on other published matters

A friend lost an eye on a motorbike he'd hired on that hill going down into Patong. The motorbike had a windshield, that caused his injury. He arrived back in Yorkshire with one blue and one brown eye.

Having watched the video of the incident it was it seems a dreadful accident due to it would seem the motorcycle being in the wrong lane and making a traffic move of some sort.
The trailer it seems was the vehicle that went over the female and killed her. I certainly think that the truck driver was unaware of the incident and in fact the truck as such did not hit the motorcycle.
If you look at the top right of the clip around 0-33 you can see what happens.

Very sad, but given the stae of the roads in Phuket putting a 6 month pregnant woman on the back of the motorbike IMO is reckless.
