One of our friends is a policeman. He's got cancer. He's got to go to a hospital in Surat Thani for an appointment on Monday. The police are lending him a car, but he needs a driver. My wife said maybe I should volunteer my services.
If I do, will they let me use the lights and sirens?

Yes if he tells you to....you always have to obey the instructions of a Rozzer or they shoot you

Sad news for his friends and family. I lost a cousin seemingly fit and healthy 72 years old active retirement too not so long back due to Pancreas cancer. The symptoms only really manifest themselves in the last six months or so of the victim's life. Too late then to do anything.

They pumped him with pain killers to get him home. He's in Ranong hospital now, but its not like the cancer hospital in Surat. Wife's uncle lasted an extra 6 weeks of that. Last week was bad. Lots of pain.

To most Thais the word cancer is the same as the phrase "death sentence". Sad, but the way it is here. Condolences to the policeman Mosha, must be terrible being told you have not long to live.
Good friend of mine in Australia told me the other day he has just been diagnosed with throat cancer, will be going to the same hospital in Newcastle that he used to visit me in when I was having chemo. I don't think he was too surprised when they told him, considering the vast number of cigarettes he used to consume every day.

My partner's (Thai) cousin got breast cancer and received supposed chemo through a public hospital. Did no good and she passed away. Have to wonder if the treatment here was more than a perfunctory show. I think she was less than 45. Wonderful gal always full of life and ready with a big smile.
Eat your veggies.
