Authorities in French Polynesia say that drug use has spiked on one of its atolls after a yacht ran aground there last month. Radio New Zealand reports that when police were called to the burning yacht wrecked on the Faaite atoll in the Tuamotu Archipelago, they found its cargo to be over half a ton of cocaine. In all, 237kg (522 pounds) of the drug was taken to Papeete, the capital of the French overseas territory, along with two Spanish crew members. Another 370kg of the drug was thought to have been consumed in the fire. However, in scenes reminiscent of the romanticised tales of smugglers and looters evading the Revenue Men in 17th Century England, it appears that locals helped themselves to some of the shipwrecked cargo and hid it out of sight of the authorities. According to French broadcaster Polynesia 1ere, Faaite mayor Jean Louis Williams called in the police after noticing drug use among the atoll's 400 inhabitants. www.bbc.co.uk/news/blogs-news-from-elsewhere-40026687

What will 400 people be able to do when a small army equipped with the best weapons available comes to collect it?

Now for all you guys (and gals) who obviously need some education on this how to drink whiskey like a sir OMG, what a massive faux pas on that clip. The clip is titled ‘how to drink whiskey like a sir’ yet Whyte & Mackay make whisky and not whiskey. BTW, just been on the Whyte & Mackay website and I must say that I feel that the owners come across as a tad Anti English: To get past the opening screen you have to give your date of birth and from there drop down ‘where are you from?’ menu you have to choose your country. There is no UK or Great Britain as a choice but there is a Scotland or Wales Choice. There is no Northern Ireland but there is an Ireland choice, so perhaps the owners are Catholic and envisage/only recognise a united Ireland The big shock, there is no choice for England.
