Two drug dealers who murdered a rival because he plotted to burgle their cannabis farm were jailed for life and must serve a minimum of 30 years. Anthony Duffy, 33, was “repeatedly and brutally stabbed” during a midnight attack in Aintree on May 27 last year. He suffered 28 wounds and later died from his injuries in hospital. "Jailed for 100 years" is clickbait on a par with Thaivisa. Even the original headline said "sentenced", not "jailed".
This was four individuals, each sentenced (not jailed) for, on average, 25 years.
They will probably serve only half of that.
Four individuals probably jailed for 12 1/2 years each would have been a more realistic headline.

I don't fraternise with the criminal fraternity, so I'm not familiar with the intricacies of these matters. However, as far as getting up to date, I understand that the term "tariff" is no longer used, and it's referred to as "minimum term". (Thank you Wikipedia.) Still think it's clickbait, though, since nobody has been jailed for 100 years. They only do that sort of thing in Amerika. |
