Strange to see people around me that would have fought a grizzly bear and climbed every mountain when young now losing their confidence.
Before Buhi starts with his passive aggressive "oh, this is a thread about fighting," thingy, it's not.
It's about old age coming with many companions, and one of them being losing confidence -
Are you seeing signs of that in yourself or others?

In my younger days in the mining racket i used to climb out the cage in a 1200m deep shaft and climb around the pipe racks and thought nothing of it Was in one of hotels in Singapore over looking marina bay a fews years back on a high floor, room had a narrow balcony, was still smoking then, went out on the balcony for a smoke and nearly shi*t myself, couldnt look over the rail and down, and smoked the cigarette with by back to the sliding doors

Yes see it in myself, as I get older my tolerance level for idiots and professional victims decreases. So much so that I now refuse to meet up with certain people, not that the person I am meeting is an idiot, its the idiots that will be in his company. One example the Pattaya guy who thinks he is being smart by ripping of the pension people by not telling them he lives full time in Thailand. Another example, an idiot who only drinks cider and expects others to use his bars of choice, just so he can drink cider. Another example, a "Thai expert" who doesnt even live here trying to lecture me about how my wife disrespected his wife, I wont bore you with the details, I told so called expert, get your mrs to explain, and dont ever mention my wife to me again.

There's a good interview with him here with Joe Rogan the UFC commentator

Well i was not going to bite, but then a moment. You could say a dirty old man moment, but it was not. Sitting drinking with pals and the regular old guy arrives on time with his wares, barbequed chicken. Last stop for him and he downs a neat lao kwow. Totally predictable. Then rolls a fag. We laugh. A young lady, teen arrives, of course clutching her phone and texting. Buys some of the wares. The light from his lamp lit her face, such young beauty. I felt bad for my thought, but in fact it was as innocent as her face. No desire, nothing but pure delight. The knowing of times that were. And of times that are.

^^^^ wow almost identical as myself the other week, same situation.
A woman (thats what she is) and she has had a hard life, rocked up to but some wares.
I looked in her direction and as the light was hitting her face, I thought to myself, you must have been a beauty when you were younger, how did you end up like this, old and haggard and not yet 40 (but already a grandmother), but looks 60.

A similar train of thought (i hope). Of seeing and not knowing their past or present. All were young , most still are, some of us old. Do we still appreciate beauty? It may not be a young nymph. It can be the opposite and was a few days ago sitting with my old friend. Told her daughter, also friend, how i loved her mother. Not that stupid sexual love, but true love. Of connection, to for a second or two, to be as one. To share the moment. She was young and desirable once. I know, as she has her children. Her daughter much the same age as myself and she too has a daughter , who has a daughter. It is life and death, the buddhist reality, the cycle.

^ I have seen her before, (not her personally) she sits outside a shophouse in Pra Phra Daeng, the eyes and the body may be going, but the mind is as sharp as a tack, great old woman, and one of the few I wai to.
Up my way, the local watering hole, the matriach lives in Sam Rong but sometimes ventures up my way, have known the family for years, she has had a stroke and uses a stick. When she appears the lower down the pecking order are too busy wai ing her to she she needs help, I see her and give a swift wai,
จับมือคุณยาย hold my hand grandmother,
ไม่เป็นไร dont worry
ไม่มีปัญหาคุณลูก no problem son.
She grabs my hand and surveys her domain.
As she enters the shop and whacks the lao kao drinkers and gamblers out the way with her walking stick, as if swatting a fly.
Hilarious, order has been restored.

Hilarious, order has been restored. That reminds me. The moment i was relating, old dear in photo was swatting flies. Cursing them and laughing with me. Then she went on to talk about my son. "How he has grown, what a handsome young lad, girls watch out,".

^^^^ everything is observed, nothing goes unnoticed. I have access to my son's face ache , phew, all the provocative poses. Have to do my fatherly thing and tell him to concentrate on his studies. He knows me too well alas. It is a balance and we, him and i agree on that. I made it, two other sons did, and he is his own person. If he is blessed with good looks and a likeable personality, plus the ability to study, then i am indeed proud. Plus he knows more truths than many another.
