Mr.Grumpy aka ex-Landlord of Crossbar has opened a new place on On Nut road, Sukhumvit Soi 77 called Grumpy's grill. Directions: Next door to Bangkok Bank, On Nut Soi 16 about 1.5 Kms from the main Sukhumvit Road, right opposite a Max Valu 24 hour convenience store and a petrol station. I don't suppose that Mr. Grumpy will be too happy with the new location. Your link shows that his bar is right on the border of Eritrea and Ethiopia.  |

Hi Fletch, managed to see the Bangkok version of the link and had a look on street view.
I presume that the location is the bar that used to be called 'The Cocktail by Arrachai', is this correct?

Yes that's right Tony used to be called The Cocktail with a Thai owner. Current landlord decided "cocktail" didn't fit |

Well as a teacher of English and being English, I was not banned from the last place. Neither was the landlord grumpy, but that requires a length of string as i rarely smile. Might drop by one day out of curiosity.  |

Wow, know exactly where that place is, almost bought a house there years ago, there is a moo baan right beside it.
Mrs said no way, too near to family.
Best of luck to him, remember years ago there was a place at the top of Suk soi 71, New York Pizza or something like that, beer joint.
Great little place, used to see the two week millionaires and their "catch" heading off into town to pay her bar fine, thinking to myself, you have everything you need right here, NON RIPP OFF PRICES, great service.
The mrs gets all nostalgic about that part of town, where she was born and grew up etc etc, she doesnt recognise it anymore.
Prakhanong market no more.
Prakhanong cinema no more.
Dino snooker room no more.
The factory she worked at at the Klong Tan end, no more, being torn down to make way for yet another condo.
The heart and soul ripped out of a community.

Yes, our property has spiraled in value, a detached piece of land.Our house on it.
Someday; not in my time, an offer that cannot be refused for this and accompanying land will be made.
Then all destroyed, a past.
Perhaps son will go up country and repeat the cycle.
My whole life has been in property speculation of a sort.
So who am i to talk?
