..........................................................................................
Great song - that was out in the early eighties and the house I was in then was "our house." My favourite ever house - which backed onto a farmyard. Living with the sound of the cows bellowing as they were wintered up, with the horses galloping around, and the mechanical clack of tractors running up and down the lane to the wide open countryside was unforgettable. The garage to the rear, the extension that doubled up as a dog kennel, the only house in the street that had a back and front porch ( I don't know why we needed two ).
The greenhouse was built just where it shouldn't be when there's a football mad kid in the family, and the lawn ( we had a lawn out back plus a drying green, posh we were ) changed use through the seasons - including the repository for work of art snowmen, and croquet contests in the summer. I never did manage to beat my mum at croquet.
I've had better houses, but none that compare to this place for the character of the surroundings.
What was your favourite house?

I once spent a summer as the only resident of a defumct mental hospital.
Was 2002 when we had a total heatwave and had huge gardens with pear and apple trees and a huge garden swing.
I used to enjoy lying on the garden bench getting stoned whilst the mama robin would come out of the nest and sit on a branch telling me off for disturbing her family.
Great fun!

You were lucky to have a HOUSE! We used to live in one room, all hundred and twenty-six of us, no furniture. Half the floor was missing; we were all huddled together in one corner for fear of FALLING!
