For those of you who remember it is Mother's Day this coming Sunday. So call your mum, send her flowers and make some plans. Never forget your mother. My boys bought me a thing that sucks up leaves ( I caught a glimpse of it as hubby was unloading the car and it was shh go inside)....and I am going to love it. As a mother it is not always easy, let's share some stories here of your young 'uns or being a parent. And a wonderful day to you all.

That's great! Those flowers look gorgeous. Your boys must be very good getting you such a cool presie. It's always great to treat one's parents well and especially one's mum.
My little story, possibly more on the funny rather the moving side... Back in the days in Ireland, one of those days the week before Mother's Day, everyone was talking about what they were planning for their mums and reminding each other of the tradition. At the place where I was working at the time, I remember asking the new intern from Germany about Mother's Day. He told me that he'll be sending his mum a nice card. Fair enough good lad, I thought -- at a long bygone time when international calls were rather expensive and not as frequent.
A few days after Mother's Day, he mentioned that his mum had call him on the phone and was concerned about his well-being after having received his card. Puzzled, I asked him what did you write on the card. Just the usual stuff, he replied, but it was not the content that had disconcerted his mum, but the fact that she had received this card when there was actually no Mother's Day. They apparently celebrate the day at a completely different time of the year.
In the end his mum, was quite relieved that her son hadn't lost the plot or whatnot. She actually really liked the card, as this gesture of sending these types for greeting cards was not common over there.

I remember 4 days in advance thanks to you. Finally I have a headstart and time to plan a good-deed.
Thanks!

Cheers for the heads up. Being international it can be nice to unexpectedly wish your mum a happy mother's day, and tell her you're thinking of her, even if it's not mother's day where she is. Thailand is easy as it's in August on the queen's birthday UK mother's day is always a difficult one for people based in Thailand, though - 4th Sunday in Lent. Lent being that period around Easter when you get chocolate eggs on a different day each year. I always need a reminder on that one, as the only time "lent" comes up in discussion in Thailand is when people haven't paid you back money. Even then you're not supposed to mention it as someone may "lose face", and lending money here should be "considered a gift". Happily I got a reminder off someone in March.

Nine is a great age, my youngest turned nine not long ago. I am his best friend as with me he gets away with more than he gets away with his father. Bought him a quad copter drone thing, it's quite a sophisticated piece of machinery and you need a license to fly them here and there are restrictions on where you can fly them. FedEx is apparently using these things to deliver small packages in The USA.
Eldest has one similar he built from scratch, has laser pointers, camera and a claw which picks things up. The first flight of his rogue drone ended up smashing the back windscreen of his father's car and he of course blamed his brother. I've kidnapped it as it's really fun to fly ( you can program a flight path with co ordinates and operate it from the mobile phone) I'm a big kid at heart. I want one for my bday so we can have drone wars I told my boys 555.

I guess they cook you breakfast in bed too. Make the most of it. It does not last for ever.
