Amazon, eBay images held to ‘ransom’ by Photobucket
They may be within their rights to do this, but it is the way they are going about it that p**ses people off.
I had thousands of images on Photobucket, had been using them for years. When I had my first website built in 2005 I started putting all my product images, banners, travel pics etc on there.
About a year ago they started playing games with me, stopping me from logging in to my images and hammering me with ads enticing me to become a paid member, which would have given me benefits I did not need.
Also had thousands of images on Flickr, until Yahoo bought them out. Stopped me logging unless I had a Yahoo account, had to log in with those address and password. Trouble was the scumbag asswipes at Yahoo closed my email account down because I did not use it enough ! Hate Yahoo and their shit products, they can go <duck> themselves.
Have now put all my images on Google Photos, have set it to upload images I put on my computer automatically. Hope they don't jerk me around like Flickr and Photobucket did.
I do have all my images going back to 2014 backed up on hard drives but I like to have them in the cloud as well. If only the cloud was reliable.
I noticed this showing up in the with the smileys for a while, could not work out why it was there -

A POPULAR website used by sellers on auction sites like Amazon, Etsy, eBay and Gumtree is facing a growing backlash for effectively demanding a “ransom” from its members.
Photobucket, a US-based image and video-hosting website founded in 2003, quietly changed its policy late last month to prevent users from hosting their content on third-party websites unless they pay a $US400 ($526) annual fee.
