Just hit 5 million steps using her Firbit monitor. She managed that in 16 months.
Now, my Mum is 72, and had a heart attack after a lifetime of smoking. To add To that, three years before she got the Fitbit she tripped and fell over an uncovered pipe opening in Edinburgh. The contractor and council responsible paid out compensation as a result of her injury.
Her injury?? A broken thigh bone, that left a horrendoyscscar, pins in her thigh, and extreme pain in her knee as it adjusted to her new leg length and walking style. Her right leg was almost two inches short of her left leg ascacresukt of the accident. Simple things like shopping for shoes are now denied her as they have to be specially made.
In spite of all that - she has walked 5 million steps in 16 months. My Dad says she gets irritated if she can't hit her daily 10,000 step target, and he''s seen her out in the snow and pouring rain walking to ensure she hits it.
Outstanding performance, Mum, outstanding.
And here we have our own Mick, who is walking his way back from one of the most debilitating illnesses known to man. Another outstanding performance.
If you are looking for the perfect gift, buy someone a FITBIT. Or be good to yourself and buy yourself one.

That's amazing blether, tell your Mum I would love to meet her one day and swap stories. I used to think the term "gym junkie" was to do with taking steroids etc. It's not, the actual exercising becomes addictive and if you keep a daily record like I do you must achieve so much a day. Funnily enough it will be 16 months ago since I got out of the wheelchair and took my first steps on the 14th, Friday. Just did a quick calc on the abacus and I have taken about 2.3 million steps, well behind your Mum. I know about having one leg shorter than the other, when I was in rehab in the Mater they put me on the tilt table and discovered my right leg was about a cm shorter than the left. Physio people said it's very common and you don't notice it because the body compensates for it automatically. My old boss said that explained why I used to walk around in circles all day in the workshop. Congrats to your Mum for overcoming all that still set a cracking pace !

You're a slacker Mick....blether's mum will be delighted heh heh! Ma Blether will be shaking in her boots when she finds out how much I am improving. Set another PB today, 9.0 km plus 330 squats and heel lifts, about 12,500 steps. Also went to a funeral today, had my photo taken about 1500 times ( a good friend of ours, her Mum passed away recently) and got a free massage. It's been a big day.

The only woman who will ever truly love you, accept you warts and all. No matter what you did, your mum always made you welcome. My mum and my mrs get on like a house on fire, both laughing and joking with each other, how did you end up with that, why did you marry him etc etc. Both my mrs and my mum will comment on my father and I, two tigers in a cage, then start laughing and hugging each other. Just to p**s the mrs off, I get on better with her mother (Old Mat) than she does, the mrs is on edge when Old Mat does a house inspection, to make sure its up to her standards, not forgetting the Mattsaman curry she brings with her. Luk ja, gawd that p**ses the mrs off to hear her mother talk to me like that, I know she is only sweetmouthing me, she wants a cigarette, that the doctors and family have banned her from smoking.

Thanks buhi, My Mum and I fought like cat and dog, and when she died it was when I discovered what pain really was. Not something like cancer or spinal fusion gives you, take enough Endones and that magically disappears. But real pain, the sort that nothing can ease. Been 18 years now and I doubt a day has gone by that I have not seen her in my mind, heard that crazy, broad Welsh accent she refused to let go of.

Old Mat has never asked me for a single satang, old skool, a very proud independant old woman, she doesnt suffer fools gladly. The mrs doesnt like me talking to her coz Mat teaches me language the mrs would rather I didnt know. New word for today, ja ee, be aware its a derogatry term, so dont go using it. Her auntie, "Mamy Poko", was even worse, I blame the grandmother, what a trooper, called me a effin poof and told me I had womans hands and wouldnt be able to plant rice, .

Me too, and my first wife's Mum is still a part of my family, as she always treated me like part of hers. Current mil is a classic rice farmers from Surin. First time I met her she went out the front of Big C and mulled up her betel nut and chewed on her chewing tobacco, has a snort of Lao Cao after a hard day in the fields. We get on great, she never asks me for anything but I have given to her when I had it. Fixing up her house and building new bathroom, kitchen and concreting under the house really improved their living standards. She has never forgotten it.

My step son scares the shit out of me. He is schizophrenic now after a spell in a Thai prison. I can front him and no problem, but it is his mother who is fearless and just takes over. He becomes a baby before her. The power of a mother.

He went into the room where his sister lived, and, then he Paid a visit to his brother, and then he He walked on down the hall, and And he came to a door, and he looked inside Father, yes son, I want to kill you Mother, I want to...
Well there is a more explicit version, but it is there in literature, the Oedipus complex, in psychoanalytic theory, a desire for sexual involvement with the parent of the opposite sex and a concomitant sense of rivalry with the parent of the same sex; a crucial stage in the normal developmental process. Sigmund Freud introduced the concept in his Interpretation of Dreams (1899).

Related to me, thankfully not in one of my lessons on sex, which is painfully hard, no pun. A girl said, "my daddy would never do that to mummy,".
