How many expats would you think there are living in Thailand fulltime , and living with undiagnosed mental illnesses?
Back in their home countries , majority being first world , they'd have either being noticed by their family or friends usually as needing help and would be assisted, but in Thailand it's not the case.
Their expat friends , if they have any , do nothing. Same goes for their Thai wife who basically is waiting till they die , but she knows there's no help available anyway . Usually the Thai wife met the expat who was already ill.
So how many must be living fulltime in Thailand as undiagnosed and therefore unmedicated living with mental illness?

I think there are many "damaged" "expats" living in Thailand...the country seems to attract its fair share of "western nutcases" far more than any other country i have lived or worked in One only has to read some of the posts on the dark side to realise how many deranged individuals there are kicking about, moving away from the dark side and into reality you come across them on a regular basis out and about, there are many with anger issues as well As another example i was invited to join a facebook group about Thailand a few days ago, accepted the request and started reading some the posts and even on there under their own names some very nasty, bitter, mental "TV" like posts...after reading the posts on the group for about 30 minutes thought f that and left the group Another on on FB is the ads for the TE visa which come up, you want to read some of the comments, again jealously, nastyness etc, one guy said he had bought a TE visa and thought it was good value for money and was set upon by other because he didnt tow the party line of " all Thai's are"

I think it was aimed at me so i bite. I am a diagnosed manic depressive, , yes when i was nineteen. Have had two spells in day care rehab, but never full time. I am safe. No danger to you hippity or anyone else. I have enormous mood swings, but they are not violent, never have been. The creative force is something to cherish, to feel the depths and the heights that most never experience. Well they might try with drugs, but i get there naturally. Alcohol i use but do not abuse. It frees my mind to contemplation, not violence. Do i know my condition, clearly yes. Does my wife? For sure. Does my son? Even more sure. And you hippity?

And check out many famous manic depressives , bi polar , as it is now termed. Literature and all arts have more than average. Politicians too, Winston Churchill for starters.

I know a few who need help. I have witnessed some epic meltdowns. If you add alcoholism to the mix, a staggering amount.
I remember one twenty-five stone well known alcoholic who's party trick in later days was doing flying angels onto Thai guys. He disappeared two years ago.
There's a long story behind that and I can't be bothered.

^^^ the Chang helps numb the pain of their lifestyle choices.
Not mentioned, the psychos some guys take up with, paranoia, insecurity, jealousy, low self esteem, the much mocked Somchais were smart enough to dump them, then along comes the white knight spewing his bile all over the internet.
Not mentioned, even worse than the nutters in Thailand, the farang losers back in farangsville, blaming all and sundry for their own choices.
Was sat in the outside bar of The Dynasty Inn a few years ago, some bird came to the bar opposite and gave her husband pure shoit, cussing him out, this poor sap got on his kness and waied this bitch, pulled out his wallet and gave it to her, she kicked it away. The Thai girls from the Dynasty were asking, why doesnt he belt her?

See my post, tales from the soi. Mad, maybe, but very careful. Then on nights like this we all let go. No problem. Just spoke to my son, did he know. " Of course I do ,". Then i knew he did indeed know. You need to know.

"The whole world is strange except Thee and me, and im not so sure about Thee". It's either "the guy in the mirror looks nuts", or "looking in the mirror and saying one of us seems nuts and it ain't me". From your mentally very tranquil uncle who only gets upset when his coffee doesn't arrive on time

Virginia Woolf's suicide note.
Dearest,
I feel certain I am going mad again. I feel we can't go through another of those terrible times. And I shan't recover this time. I begin to hear voices, and I can't concentrate. So I am doing what seems the best thing to do. You have given me the greatest possible happiness. You have been in every way all that anyone could be. I don't think two people could have been happier till this terrible disease came. I can't fight any longer. I know that I am spoiling your life, that without me you could work. And you will I know. You see I can't even write this properly. I can't read. What I want to say is I owe all the happiness of my life to you. You have been entirely patient with me and incredibly good. I want to say that - everybody knows it. If anybody could have saved me it would have been you. Everything has gone from me but the certainty of your goodness. I can't go on spoiling your life any longer.
I don't think two people could have been happier than we have been.

Interesting. Just the other day I read up on Evelyn Waugh and his wiki page has "A brief medical examination indicated that Waugh was suffering from bromide poisoning from his drugs regimen. When his medication was changed, the voices and the other hallucinations quickly disappeared." en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Evelyn_Waugh

You can change it with prescription drugs. Then you become normal. I do medicate, have stated this on here before. But not to the extent i lose those highs and, yes lows. It is me and whether it upsets some, so be it. I do not tell anyone how to be.
