Just started watching Season 1 of this, although we've had the DVDs for a while.
Really enjoying it so far, with his touch of genius and humour. Episode 5 called the Tower had some hilarious scenes. DaVinci has been imprisoned and put on trial. The trial is fixed, and as the magistrate says it's just for every to play their parts. Knowing he can't win the trial Davinci has other ideas on how to escape. Kidnapping the magistrate, some glue, a pig, a periscope and projector into the sky, while the city's audience is watching a performance of The Decameron's stolen pig. Hilarious
... and who says history doesn't repeat itself? 500 years or so later Britain's D.Cameron performing similar acts. Surely no coincidence in the parallels and name and of course pigs?

History does repeat itself. How else would history exist? We mate and produce, pass our genes and our knowledge. We are sophisticated animals. Can play with logic and hence to philosophy. Some make do with the simplistics of religion. Others try to determine the absurdity of it all. I read Fred Hoyle when eleven and wondered at the universe.
