I guess it depends on who you ask "70% of Windows 10 users are totally happy with our big telemetry slurp, beams Microsoft Alternatively: 30% have found the option to switch it off Microsoft claims seven out of ten Windows 10 users are happy with Redmond gulping loads of telemetry from their computers – which isn't that astounding when you realize it's a default option. In other words, 30 per cent of people have found the switch to turn it off, and the rest haven't, don't realize it's there, or are genuinely OK with the data collection." www.theregister.co.uk/2017/08/09/microsofts_privacy_enhancements/

I used someone elses computer the other week to do a quick check on a route using google maps, as the system booted up windows updates kicked in and took 45mins to complete, which locked me out of using the computer. Good job I wasn't in a rush.
Noticed on my computer the other day that there where some photos I once had on the computer (months ago) but deleted them, microsoft was showing me thumbnails of them in the start menu under something called MS Photos.
Imagine the horror if they were 'jazz' photos and and my niece/nephew was using the using the computer.
