Came home from some errands tonight to find a small crowd of people hanging out on the corner beside my building. They were frowning, had their arms crossed and were whispering to one another while intently staring at a hovel beside the tea shop. The police were on scene too. A cop in his baggy Myanmar police uniform stood talking calmly to one of my neighbors. Something was going on. I wondered what was  happening, but I still don't have the language skills to ask.

That's on me. After 3 1/2 years here, I really should be able to communicate well enough to know words like theft, murder, rape and violence. 

After texting a neighbor, I found out what had happened. A woman was arrested for the crime of being in possession of a deck of playing cards. Same as it is in Thailand, playing cards are a no-no here. Playing cards = gambling. In addition, the woman wouldn't come quietly. She had to be tasered to subdue her. I guess I should probably hide that deck of mine that's just sitting around
