Except in the longer term, with one of them, the planet starts to look ugly in patches, with the other, all life on it ceases to exist. I'm no greenie but I think I'll go with electric power.

Electric power is viable if and only if electricity is generated by nuclear power. All the greenies hot air will not generate enough elecricity without that. Though surprisingly they have a couple of very nice electic powered airplanes now that can handle a full day of circuits and local area work.

Too flippant, sorry!
There's no easy answer that suits everyone: oil is like coal, any fossil fuel solution causes serious long term damage; nuclear has risks from leakage plus issues with waste disposal; solar is good but limited to daylight hours else battery storage means more issues; wind power is ugly and kills birds......perhaps it's about choosing the cheapest and least damaging option.
My old home town of Bridlington knows about wind power, the area between Hull and Brid has become a major wind power farm with turbines on land and sea, the view of them from Bridlington South is overwhelmingly bad. But they do the job, cost little and few care if some seagulls get the chop, locals would consider that a plus point!
