You've been warned, see the new Kingsman movie at your peril.
It's rare to know within the first minute of a movie that it's not a good one, even rarer is to know one minute further on that this is going to be one of the worst movies you've ever seen...and it's long too (said the bishop to the actress)!
It contains some great actors, Colin Firth is a dim light in an otherwise pitch black room, that would be the room the script writer sat in when the script was being written and the same room the producer and director were asleep in whilst the movie was being made - Kingsman I was actually quite good (I thought), don't be fooled, version II is dire beyond words.

Horses for courses, I guess.
IMDB users rate it 7.4/10 - only marginally less than the original at 7.7.
Personally I enjoyed it, though a few too many anal sex jokes for my liking. It lacked the originality and spark of the first movie, but was still good fun. Seeing Elton John "act" was quite bizarre.

I was going to watch it yesterday, but my daughter wanted to see Baby Driver so ended up watching that. Thought it was OK, nothing great. I will still probably go and see Kingsman this week if I have the time :-)

I didn't read the IMDB reviews but I did read a couple retrospectively, from the UK press, one said, despite its length and a long list of star names, nothing can save it. But each to their own of course. Yes indeed, Elton John was indeed quite a shock but by that point we'd already seen robotic dogs hence nothing further was likely to surprise too much - perhaps I nodded off but I don't recall one anal sex joke, I did stop counting use of the word f*ck and stopped at thirty-two times, annoying indeed.

I try not to take notice of what critics write or say on TV. I'm more inclined to ask people who have a similar liking in films.

I also rarely read reviews before deciding to go and see a movie, but I sometimes do so after I've already seen it. I don't think a positive movie review would tempt me to go see a movie but I may let a negative review (if I stumble across one) influence my decision to see a particular movie or not. We've got fairly decent at spotting dogs and there's another one on the way shortly staring Daniel Craig, I suspect it was a movie that was part of his Bond contract and he had no choice but to make it, the B movies made by stars who have just completed a successful major movie are usually not difficult to spot, it's as if the studio wants to make them pay a penance for having participated in a winner.
