A guy I knew was involved in stealing gold teeth from corpses back in the late seventies, early eighties. The undertaker involved fled the country and my Dad bumped into him in a bar in Eire. He was eventually caught and jailed. My mate was a dental technician, hence his involvement - he spent the rest of his life working from a wooden garage fixing dentures for old ladies.
Died a rampant alcoholic.

Was quite common back in the day.
I once had a tour of the Royal College of Surgeons in Edinburgh.
Was a 'staff' event so we were all filled up with gallons of sherry beforehand and enjoyed the historical significance.
Then we were shown the large room filled with specimens.....all kinds of pickled bits and bobs but the one which sticks in my mind is a wallet made from the skin of Burke.
He of Burke and Hare...the bodysnatchers.

Was quite common back in the day. I once had a tour of the Royal College of Surgeons in Edinburgh. Was a 'staff' event so we were all filled up with gallons of sherry beforehand and enjoyed the historical significance. Then we were shown the large room filled with specimens.....all kinds of pickled bits and bobs but the one which sticks in my mind is a wallet made from the skin of Burke. He of Burke and Hare...the bodysnatchers. From the days Universities had problems to get bodies for practical lessons I guess. My mrs will need to get that one sorted out with the local temple, will they pull my gold teeth before sending me to the furnace or will she be sifting through the ashes trying to recover the gold to pay for the funeral.
