This is the sad part that these small minded ignorant bigots who are a dangerous minority seem hell bent on the total destruction of anything of historical value irrespective of what it represents.
This is a total and sad departure from the belief of Islam which encourages education.Cast your minds back to the history of Islam and its role in time past in actually preserving and encouraging education as the Islamic world did when Europe was destroying education along with scientific advances in the middle ages.

Yes SP...it is an utter shame what these islamists do these days. No regard whatsoever for their past history in science, literature, education, the arts etc. How des that old saying go..." If one forgets histiory then one is bound to repeat the same mistakes" or something like that. Oddly the algorithm was invented around 852 AD by a Persian... "'Algorithm' stems from the name of a Latin translation of a book written by al-Khwārizmī, a Persian mathematician, astronomer and geographer. Al-Khwarizmi wrote a book titled On the Calculation with Hindu Numerals in about 825 AD, and was principally responsible for spreading the Indian system of numeration throughout the Middle East and Europe. It was translated into Latin as Algoritmi de numero Indorum (in English, "Al-Khwarizmi on the Hindu Art of Reckoning"). The term "Algoritmi" in the title of the book led to the term "algorithm". In 852 us "westerners" were not that advanced....not by any means.

Methinks my or our ancestors were living in wattle huts in 852, if they had a farthing or two of course. To go with that England at the time was not a single entity kingdom, nor was English as we know it or even middle English well known or even spoken.
Saxon, assortd Norse dialects, Welsh, Cornish, etc were some of the languages spoken then

If they know that they are advancing surely there is the technology / capability to blow them back to the 7th century before they get there?
