I've never rated the quality of driving in Thailand very highly and the thought drivers (don't) put into it. Backed up by recent findings Thailand had the worst record for road deaths in the world on one recent metric. Anyway...
I got a taxi yesterday. To decorate the taxi, the driver had put bank notes from countries around the world all over the inside of the taxi. I've seen this a few times before, so didn't think much of it at first.
Then I realised the taxi driver had completely blocked out his rear view window with cardboard with bank notes on it. He'd also stuck them over the rear view mirror. So this guy had no proper way of seeing what was directly behind him. The only mirrors he had were the wing mirrors for seeing what's at the side.
As anyone in the UK knows, consistently not checking your rear view mirror will lead to you failing your UK driving test. So here we have a Thai taxi driver who knowingly modifies his car so he can never check his rear view mirror, or see what's behind him. F**kwit. or should I say...

I liked the guy recently who'd filled his boot full of subwoofer equipment to make his shitty taxi stereo thump.
Bad luck for the idiot though when our suitcases couldn't fit because of that.

Mind you, compared to India the driving etiquette and modes here are a tad more civilized. Still like herding cats or running squirrels though!!!!

T.I.T No rear view mirror needed, my white wan has a wooden board behind the cockpit and no windows on the back doors. No more of them dicks with HID headlights blinding me from behind. Even if said driver had a clear view of the mirror...well I won't Thai bash, just strap in and enjoy the ride, you only live once

We had a taxi driver with at least a third (maybe half) the front windscreen covered with mobile phones on suction caps, all flashing away. Should have got a photo.

Go to Bangladesh and witness first hand the driving there and one will never complain about Thai driving again , Thailand is much worse and has the numbers to prove it.

Remember Thailand road deaths only include the dead at the scene numbers.
It doesn't include those who died after in hospital.
