Hi Gentlemen and lady P, Just wondering what you can tell me about Bang Saen. Anyone lived/living there or nearby, pros/cons?

I like to visit the place, but it gets busy on the weekends as the masses escape from Bkk which is just an hour away. We sometimes go down mid week just to eat sea food.
Living there full time would be a differnt story.

Yes rgs, they certainly do highlight the abundance of quality seafood. I will need to investigate further.

One hour south of Bkk, basically if heading to Pattaya, instead of turning left as you come off the motorway, you just keep going straight. The roadworks at that stretch of the motorway are horrendous have been for a couple of years and its very easy to miss the turn off. Nice enough little uni town, but not much to do during the week.

Yeah has a nice enough little beach, I like it, no rip off jet ski scammers, no ladyboy pickpocket gangs, no beach rd hookers, no double farang pricing or bill padding as takes place elsewhere. Only problem is when on a ses is having to cross the rd to go to the loo, its a rip off 5 baht, . Yeah you drive by the uni on the way to the beach

Yes, I live here in Bang Saen, BJ. It is a university (Burapha) town on the seaside, as stated, about an hour out of Bangkok - turn right off Sukhumvit just south of Chonburi rather than head on straight to SriRacha. A nice promenade along the beach with the usual chairs and umbrellas etc. fairly quiet during the week but there is certainly no shortage of places to eat! Becomes like Cha-Am on steroids during the weekends, but without the farang. Actually, not a lot of western style entertainment here at all (just a couple of 'bars' and restaurants). A decent shopping centre in town with KFC, Swensons, MK, cinema and so forth. The Sez Hotel or Tide Hotel are probably best if staying overnight. By the way Smokie, I live directly opposite the uni.

You, me and MJP need to discuss camera options.

I have no doubt one might remember if one had been bold enough to order a pizza in Glasgow Now I remember eating a 'he-man' size steak in Edinburgh, in a small restaurant called "Get Stuffed". Was in 1987. Now that was memorable!
