CONTINUED CRACKDOWN SEES ARREST OF 122 FOREIGNERS IN BANG RAK BANGKOK — More than 120 foreigners were arrested early Thursday morning in Bangkok’s Bang Rak area. At about 1:30am, 122 foreigners were taken to the Bang Rak Police Station to hear charges of illegally entering the kingdom, overstaying their visas or possessing drugs. Among them were nationals from Egypt, Russia, Laos, Myanmar, Cambodia, Vietnam, China, India, Iraq, Nigeria, Afghanistan and the Netherlands. Samples of their DNA will be taken and they will be blacklisted from re-entering for a period of time depending on their infractions, Tourist Police Deputy Commissioner Maj. Gen. Surachet Hakpal said. Surachet said some of the foreigners worked illegally as language teachers, football players and priests. The arrest is part of an ongoing effort police have called “X-Ray Outlaw Foreigner” to clamp down on foreign nationals involved in illegal activities. It began in early February at several venues with more than 300 foreigners arrested so far for entering the country illegally, working without a permit and testing positive for drugs. www.khaosodenglish.com/news/crimecourtscalamity/crime-crime/2018/03/15/122-more-arrested-in-x-ray-outlaw-foreigner-crackdown/

"At about 1:30am, 122 foreigners were taken to the Bang Rak Police Station"
Does that mean the police knocked on the doors of over 100 people in the small hours of the morning based upon intelligence? Or were the foreigners all together somewhere*, the place was raided, and people were detained indiscriminately?
* Perhaps an Illegal English Teachers vs. Priests futsal tournament?

The cops in Florida did something similar to this years ago, they put an ad. in the Miami paper advertising a support group meeting for illegal aliens and netted themselves over 300 illegals without even a chase.

A number of the ''churches'' here are wonderful cover for illegals and they are often involved is assisting undocumented types to work the U N refugee/ stateless person system here too.
The greater majority of these '' churches'' tend to a congregation made up of peoples from many of the African nations who of course profess Christianity as their belief and they also cite persecution in their own country from the Allah crowd. Such a situation the only course open to these unfortunates is that they have had to flee to safety in Thailand.
Due to that fleeing process and subsequent landing here in Thailand all the upheaval and trauma involved has resulted in the loss of all their papers, hence the U N connection.

There used to be a joint in Patpong that sounds like what you describe, it wasn't called a church but it may have been one since many of the girls wore a crucifix and they were forever dropping to their knees to pray, there was something quite spiritual about the place too.
