Bali switches off internet services 24 hours for New Year

Now that's a nagging subject. Being on holiday on a tropical Island and someone decided to switch-off Internet access for 24-hours. Saw it too late, so already happened. Did I miss all the complaints from holiday makers who were 24-hours offline and got near hysterical? Did anyone's holiday get totally ruined?
