This is huge news right now. Australian cricketers admitting to ball tampering.
The captain needs to be sacked immediately.

This goes right to the top. The cameras catch Darren Lehman realizing they've been caught. He then gets on the phone and rings the 12th man to pass on the message.
This is a complete disgrace to Australian cricket. There's probably 20 cameras on the game at any 1 time , to think they'd get away with it the fking idiots!
We'd forgive them for loosing the game gracefully , but now they're all known as CHEATERS FOREVER.
Shameful day for Australian cricket.

And the root cause is the corrupting factor of sponsors money and their demands.

I can't see how scratching a ball will affect its trajectory any more than a slight crosswind. It would be different if you polished one side to a mirror finish and grooved the other side with an angle grinder. Still, it isn't cricket.

I understand how the smooth half of the ball goes faster than the rough side making it swing but it would take more than a few scratches.

Mike Whitney did a great demo of ball swing but I can't find it.

Remember that ball tamper where he had a lolly in his mouth?Wiping sugar on part of the ball. What they're doing is trying to get a new ball of the umpires by claiming the balls not swinging anymore. Dead ball. Professional batsman can sit out there all day long belting a ball that doesn't swing. So when the bowlers polishing the ball , he's only polishing half of it and holds it shiny side in for in swingers, and reverse grip for out swingers. Or the lethal in out swinger will happen if it's a new ball.

ICC have banned Smith for the next match. He was booed to the crease, and booed back to the pavilion. He wasn't at the crease too long.
