WE all love bitcoins, blockchains and so, don't we? "This coal power plant is being reopened for blockchain mining The now shuttered coal-fired power station on Australia's east coast will offer cheap power prices to blockchain operators. Sure, you could mine bitcoin on that old PC in your garage, or you could use a whole power station to do it. That's the idea behind the Blockchain Application Centre -- an Aussie tech initiative that will see one of the country's now-shuttered coal-fired power plants reopened to provide cheap power for blockchain applications." www.cnet.com/news/australian-coal-power-plant-reopened-blockchain-bitcoin-applications/

Actually no bitcoin mining. It's just that the technology which is a.o. used with crypto currencies like bitcoin can also be used to secure transactions, contracts and the like. Insurance companies and banks are looking into it for such. Although the underlaying technology is seen as very secure, it also requires a lot of processing power. The price of high-end and even medium level GPUs (graphics cards used for gaming a.o.) has risen dramatically as a result. A few months ago articles started to pop up that 'bitcoin mining' costs a enormous amount of energy and those news items were derided as libtard thinking. Now it's libtard thinking to ensure a sufficient supply of energy? Somehow that seems to give two contra-dictionary statements.

a follow-up based on an assumption which isn't proven has limited value.
