What this goes to show is how much of a rip off western passports are.... Thai passport 25 quid UK passport planned to increase to 85 quid Granted the Thai pp is 5 years, but even if they double the current price for the 10 year one still cheaper

two years ago I paid 4800 Baht for a Netherlands passport, validity 10 years. THat's the same price one would pay in the Netherlands. Mind you, add 1100 Baht or so for the certificate needed to get stamps (visa, re-entry, whatever) transferred.
6000 Baht = 133 GBP ?

You shouldnt be paying for transfer of anything, existing stamps and re-entrys etc are transferred free by Thai immigration - given my extensive travel for work, i know this as fact, as have transferred stamps at least 5 times in the last 15 years to new passports

The Netherlands Authorities charge 1100 Baht for the official certificate which states that 'new passport' is an official replacement of the 'old passport'. Without such certificate you cannot get visa transferred between passports. It maybe that the need for the certificate was created a few years ago, as seven years ago when I got a new 5-year valid passport there was just some 'typed' text in one of the pages of the new passport.
