Last week spent in the city.
Contrary to what you may read elsewhere, the place was rocking, and had a buzz about it.
Soi LK, standing room only, if you were lucky, otherwise head elsewhere, Central packed with tourists, restos full.
Know nothing about WS or soi 6.

I dont believe the blow hards in other place, or the "sexpat" types really understand whats happening in Pattaya, when the gov said they wanted to make it a proper tourist destination they meant it, the rate of development around the areas is incredible, you may have noticed all the new road construction going on, which will pretty much connect both airports SDV and UTP to Pattaya by motorway, new malls going up etc Will the seedy side of Pattaya ever be truely erased ? ....most likely not, but pushed into enclaves in Pattaya city, and there is a distinct possibility Pattaya will end up more "up market"..

^^, , I probably spend more time there than half the dreamers who post wishing they were there. Just look at the skyline as you head into Pattaya, check out all those condo buildings in Nth Pattaya, before you even reach there, look out the window and check out the housing estates. p**sed off about that tollway as you turn left onto the 36. Check out Sri Racha and some of those moo baans. The blowhards you mention base their insight into the fact, the days of the mozzy infected non a/c bar bia are over, no wonder there are no customers, ergo Pattaya is dying, . Couldnt believe it, spotted at least 3 farang coffin dodger types sat in Central at mid day, supping on their bia chang bought from the shop next door, the red label, paid gave them away, looking like tramps from skid row, supping ale out a plastic bag, never mind that there is a sign thats says, in english, no outside food or drink to be brought inside. Living the dream, wonder what their user names were.

In forty years of visiting Thailand I have never been there. Can't say I'm interested. Am I missing anything?

The new or "old " location for the coffin dodgers and pedos is Royal Garden food court, now its the loso shopping mall in Pattaya only one step above Mikes

Mikes was prime people watching spot, aka tramp central, douben bonus, watch the jet ski scams going down, all those coffin dodgers seem to have been cleared out, well done the authorities, I believe they now post from tropical paradises like Cambo or flippersville, all the while wishing their poxy pensions would allow them to be back in Pattaya, and bad mouthing we brexiter types for the drop in exchange rates.

In forty years of visiting Thailand I have never been there. Can't say I'm interested. Am I missing anything? Pattaya is Pattaya...i am normally there at least once a week shopping for food in central etc...the novelty of the "entertainment" side of Pattaya wore off years ago for me, for me to go out for a half decent meal its Pattaya bound for me Harbour mall is great for the kids, 3 floors of adventure playgrounds etc, good place to off load the kids for a few hours I had a mate who used to come from the UK at least 2 or 3 times a year and he used to camp out in Pattaya at one of the "farang" owned bars, i went and had a beer with one time of night, and really couldnt handle the whinging from the resident all knowing farangs, who turned rather p**sy with me when they found out i wasnt a two week millionaire and had been in Thailand longer than just about all of them.... in the end had to tell my mate straight, will go out for a meal with you any time while your here, but not sitting in bars with whinging kants like this lot...

Years ago used to love buying up the cds in Tower before it became CD warehouse.
Used to play in the snooker hall upstairs, sometimes me and the mrs drop in, some of the staff from 20 years ago remember us.

I pass the same mob in Udon sitting on the footpath at 10am Chang in hand. I give them a wide berth.

In forty years of visiting Thailand I have never been there. Can't say I'm interested. Am I missing anything? Short answer to your question, NO. Many on here may be taken aback, next month I am off to Bang Saen, followed by Sri Racha. I go to meet friends, drink farang beer, eat farang food and listen to music. Had a hardon as I noticed Brooks baked beans were on special at Central, I bought twelve tins. how sad never mind.

Haven't been there for many years, but from memory BangSaen always had lots of Thai and very few farang. That translates into food, food and more food. Mind you, years ago that also translated into 'trafficjam back into BKK.
