I had a penguin today with my pot of tea. I didn't know penguins drink tea. They are a civilized type of biscuit really.

It's really painful. Mine turned out to have fallen out inside a taxi. It turned up silently without explanation in the mail from an unknown address many, many months after being of any use anymore and after considerable grief and expense to replace it and my various permissions. It's an embarrassing monumental blunder hopefully no one has to go through twice. As already mentioned, make sure you claim in the police report that it was lost within the jurisdiction of that police office. Shouldn't be a concern in your case, but if you have to go home to another province and then tell the police there that you lost it in Bangkok, they'll tell you you have to go back to Bangkok to file the report. I ended up going to another police station in that provincial city and telling them that... golly gee... I think I dropped it in the street somewhere right in the neighborhood of their office. I had to do that over a lost wedding certificate...so I could get a divorce. 6 bahts for a copy but the first police would not take the report because I lost it in Australia. The second understood when I said I unpacked and could not find it..,...after he gave me the report he said good thing I did not know where I lost it or I would have to go there,

It's been a tough week here. The heat! Bangkok is a good 5 degrees hotter than Yangon. The food! Yuck! I mean, having to eat this crap... And then there's all the street traffic.. Even walking down the sidewalk has been a challenge! There was some kind of "Plaza" right around the corner from my hotel. But the shopping there sucked. Have you ever taken a close look at the neon art of the Nana Sign? You kind oh have to squint your eyes and unfocus them to make out the sign-makers intent. I mean, what is that? It's even weirder when you look at it from a different angle. It's some weird dog-woman with a stump for one leg and the other with a hideous cancerous growth half way down! At least there's tacos. The young lady in the black dress wasn't doing much of a job attracting people's attention to the menu. She stood there the whole time I ate my dinner and seemed to have something else on her mind.

Serves you right, I now exactly where those photos were taken and what establishment you were in.
First photo, I agree, whats that rabbit food doing on the plate, throw that veggie rubbish in the bin, nothing good will come of eating such crap.

We drove past Nana plaza last year, as close as I have been. I should pay a visit. I have fond memories of my Nana who died about forty years ago. Do they play Richard Clayderman?

I have to make do with a max valu at Pattanakarn intersection on SriNakarin, sometimes go hiso and head for tigerfishs fav, London Town. Could swear I saw him in there the other week stockpiling the capt birdseye fish fingers, I had to head to Maccas for a filet of fish, inconsiderate bastid that one.

After a last minute panic at the check in desk for MAI Airlines, I've made it back "home". The lady at the desk thought I needed to take the letter-of-explanation I'd received from the US Embassy to Chaeng Wattana to get a stamp before I tried going through passport control at the airport. I was fairly sure that if that was a needed step, the embassy would have told me that. They knew I had travel plans for the next day.
Then there was concern about getting a Visa-On-Arrival with an emergency platform. Again, an unfounded fear.
It's nice to be 'home'...
