SingAir will start the non-stop flight from Singapore to Newark again. They think this time it'll be profitable, using the A350-900ULR. For nine years, till 2013, they had a similar flight but with the A340-500. That's a four engine plane with much less fuel efficient engines. "Singapore Airlines Is About to Launch the World's Longest Commercial Flight Singapore Airlines says it will soon launch the world’s longest commercial flight this October. The airliner announced in a statement on Wednesday that it would be launching the flight beginning on October 11, from Singapore to Newark Liberty International Airport, just outside of New York City, using the ultra-long-range Airbus A350-900ULR." www.fortune.com/2018/05/30/singapore-airlines-worlds-longest-flight/

Because they fukced it up last time and had to chuck it.
[Insert dramatic announcement fanfare]
Sounds like some deadbeat ex with a long dick trying to make a come-back.
"World's longest dick... and I'm back!!!" [drunken hiccup]

BA already run a Heathrow to Perth flight about the same I guess? That's a mere 17 hours. However, that flight has cattle class seats (the Singapore Air flight only has premium economy and above), so more people will get DVT. The BA flight has a sort of logic, serving British expats in western Australia. Not sure whether the demand for Singapore to New Jersey will come from.

For me a 12 hour flight is about my limit. Now I am a greybeard I do feel that there is a market niche for airships the cruise liners of the air. Modern technology should indeed make such craft extremely safe. Time is not of the essence. Truth be known many a traveler would indeed enjoy such travel forms. Wonderful sensato , I had the privilege in the past of riding in the Goodyear blimp, indeed a wonderful experience. Of such things dreams are made Our revels now are ended. These our actors, As I foretold you, were all spirits, and Are melted into air, into thin air: And like the baseless fabric of this vision, The cloud-capp'd tow'rs, the gorgeous palaces, The solemn temples, the great globe itself, Yea, all which it inherit, shall dissolve, And, like this insubstantial pageant faded, Leave not a rack behind. We are such stuff As dreams are made on; and our little life Is rounded with a sleep.
