That's a misleading statistic. Often not having a helmet would be okay, but not when some testosterone fueled ashhole comes roaring roughshod down the highway like he's flying a rocket. Which describes way too many pickup drivers in Thailand.
I have been driving a motorcycle here for fourteen years, mostly without my helmet. I would be just fine without the homicidal drivers in pickups.

The lack of patience from idiots thinking the outside lane is theirs, and only theirs doesn't help. Traveling home Sunday, check mirror. Saw what I thought was plenty of space, I'm doing 90. Pull out to over take a wagon. Look in my mirror, and the car that was over 500 metres behind, is literally up my are. He didn't even give me chance to complete the overtake, and move back to the inside lane. I looked to see the front of wagon in my rear view mirror, just to glimpse the car going for a pass on my left. Police have carried out a poll about increasing the 90 limit to 110. All that's going to do is get more killed IMO.

Have you upset someone in HR, 14 years in Thailand well done, shouldnt you be on the fast track career scheme and headed for better things such as Hong Kong or Singapore? |

I've lost two friends on Samui through bike accidents.
Both were early hours of the morning involving alcohol and trying to avoid a 400 Baht taxi fare.
Draw your own conclusions.
