The last decent thing the Wops built was the Pantheon or the Colosseum In this day and age, we can't match the Romans concrete technology, anywher on the planet. I may be wrong in this but I thought we understand how the Romans did it (including how they could pour their concrete under water) but it's a too labour intensive and expensive process. Furthermore Romans build BIG to be on the safe side whereas modern technology allows us to 'calculate' the strength of what we build. Romans couldn't built high-rises with more than a few stocks. Of course, nowadays we also build for a limited lifetime because of costs and next try to do maintenance and repairs which are not always planned before but which are required as we can't afford to rip out a bridge, build a new one and let previous traffic make a long detour for a year or more. Things get better if we can prefab segments elsewhere and just replace a bridge. This is done frequently in the Netherlands where all tends to be a bit flat. You can't do that with bridges spanning a valley.

So why go back some 50 plus years ?
The financial strictures were applied by EU within the last 5 plus years. Yet another fine example of your grovelling to protect your beloved Brussels Nazis.

So, Brussels to be blamed for rotting bridges in Italy? It would seem you are trying to imply Brussels should act like Nazies and tell all countries what to do and how and when. Interesting though the continued 'Brussels Nazies. I guess brexit is really not going well even with PM May and her cabinet imploring fellow PMs in Europe to 'please, pretty please believe me, our proposal is good for you.' Almost as good as it would be for Britain maybe? Well, EU27 is required to take care of its own and Britain wants out. Anyway, Mafia practises, blame Brussels and as Britain's political elite was part of Brussels of course blame Britain as well.

"Report: Experts knew Genoa bridge had weakened 20 percent GENOA, Italy (AP) — Engineering experts determined in February that corrosion of the metal cables supporting the Genoa highway bridge had reduced the bridge’s strength by 20 percent — a finding that came months before it collapsed last week, Italian media reported Monday. Despite the findings, newsmagazine Espresso wrote that “neither the ministry, nor the highway company, ever considered it necessary to limit traffic, divert heavy trucks, reduce the roadway from two to one lanes or reduce the speed” of vehicles on the key artery for the northern port city." apnews.com/d5f17a668a4e4387a7607f98072b7a08/Report:-Experts-knew-Genoa-bridge-had-weakened-20-percent

Italian engineering at its finest, wtf do you expect from a country that inveneted a tank with one forward gear and five reverse gears?
