His most famous book was "The One Minute Manager". I think the title refers to how long one, on average, would keep one's job if one followed its advice.

Still, given that the book is very, very short and that over 50% of the content is plagiarised, writing it was a very efficient use of his and his co-author's time.

Probably puts on latex gloves when taking a dump, having a p**s, or flogging the bishop. Production shops / on site visits etc  probably done via web cams or if such visits were br are  to be made being actually unavoidable  it would be surrounded by a phalanx of ''yes  men'' to ensure its preservation of the status myth.

Can't risk being tainted by engineering grime and questioned by mucky overalled engineers who actually know what they are doing, all their experience having been gained through practical hands on experience in both engineering practices and man management techniques orthodox or otherwise.

Well, I must admit to have seen similar books pop up in the 90-tish. Same 'all inspiring' stuff.

That's when I decided that being a team leader and moving further steps up the management path would be a downfall for me and I stayed on the technical side ever since. What with all changes in IT I doubt I would have survived for long as manager, but as techie I'm still there if only because someone is needed to keep the show running
