OK, for once I would like to make a serious thread and ask a serious question. WTF is this UEFA Nations League crap.
I only found out about it a couple of days ago and after Googling and reading a few explanations about the competition I can't see any advantage coming out of the whole thing. IMHO all it will do is burn out the more talented players who have the pleasure of representing their country.
The whole thing, which runs over 2 years is just another way of trying to line the coffers of the EUFA elite.
What's the point of this tournament when we have the UEFA European Championship in 2020, surely this will add to fixture congestion.
However, these are my views and I did say that this is a serious thread.
My question is, do you think that the Nations League is a good thing/idea or is it a nuisance? Genuinely looking forward to your feedback on this as I honestly really do not know if this tournament is popular or not, I haven't seen any build up like you get with the World Cup or the UEFA European Championship

I have studied it assiduously (I had to google that word) and I've come to the conclusion that no one knows but Germany will win it.
I hope that answers your question.

Seems an attempt to have more games. Not sure players will be happy, but with normally about 24 to select from ... Not sure people are willing to pay more often for at times lame games, especially when played in another country. Interesting to read the league was decided upon in 2014! en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2018–19_UEFA_Nations_LeaguePS maybe the Netherlands team gets a lucky chance, they'll probably need it "For the 2018–19 UEFA Nations League, teams will be divided according to their UEFA national team coefficients after the conclusion of the 2018 FIFA World Cup qualifiers (play-off results will not be included), with the highest-ranked teams playing in League A, etc."

I'd like to offer a serious reply but frankly I haven't got a clue what you are on about. Give me a hint. Politics, soccer, or something else?

To be a bit serious though. I just stumbled over an article on a Dutch news site which states "the set up of the NationLeague is still like higher math for many footbal supporters. It is no coincidence though that ALL 54 UEFA member states unanimously voted FOR introduction." etc., etc. too lazy to do more translating read for yourself PS seems some are happy with having 'formal' games instead of 'friendlies' "De opzet van de Nations League is voor veel voetballiefhebbers nog hogere wiskunde.

I never knew the league of nations was a soccer team. Or football as you northerners call it.

Germany only needs to win once and mainland Europe has had it.

I think it is meant to replace the ''friendlies'' which were a stupidly named occasion anyway.

I think it is meant to replace the ''friendlies'' which were a stupidly named occasion anyway. Agreed but at least with the friendlies there was less pressure and as such it was a better way to try out new players/tactics.
