I've just watched this on TV. I thouroughly enjoyed it, and Woody Harrelson is bloody marvelous as LBJ.

Wot is it? You're almost as secretive as that Mossad agent rgs. LBJ is the movie title. Linden B. Johnson. It covers the period leading upto and after he became President. Todays snowflakes should see it. It will shock them to discover what the Democrats were like in the early 60s.

I would like to see that one. He was way to the left of the party at that time. A sixties libtard.

I would like to see that one. He was way to the left of the party at that time. A sixties libtard. Kennedy brought him in because Kennedy needed the Southern Democrats. The feeling was the South would not vote for a Catholic, he also thought LBJ wouldn't be a threat to him politically.

Johnson was seen in Western Europe as a conservative cowboy and America as brutally suppressing leftish governments if only to counter the Ruskies. I always remember him as having very liberal domestic policies. That would be before he became President. The role of VP is mainly to shake hands with all and sundry and to smile for the camera. I did specify "sixties", he did not invent the cold war or Vietnam.

Maybe domestic liberal, but no retard "In domestic policy, Johnson designed the "Great Society" legislation to expand civil rights, public broadcasting, Medicare, Medicaid, aid to education, the arts, urban and rural development, public services and his "War on Poverty". Assisted in part by a growing economy, the War on Poverty helped millions of Americans rise above the poverty line during his administration.[2] Civil-rights bills that he signed into law banned racial discrimination in public facilities, interstate commerce, the workplace and housing; the Voting Rights Act prohibited certain requirements in southern states used to disenfranchise African Americans. With the passage of the Immigration and Nationality Act of 1965, the country's immigration system was reformed, encouraging greater emigration from regions other than Europe. Johnson's presidency marked the peak of modern liberalism after the New Deal era." en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lyndon_B._Johnson

Describing American politics in terms of Left and Right is too simple. As recently as the year 2000 some Democrats would be quite comfortable in the BNP

Just to clarify, I was not saying he was a retard or libtard, he was the sixties equivalent of one being very far to the left (sort of left anyway). Before he became President. Which indicates how much politics has moved. If there was a decent pub I would go for a drink.
