At least one part of the procedure worked.

FSX from Microsoft if it's still available, there is another one that's download only. I'll get details tomorrow.

The academic version does carry a watermark in one top corner, which I'm told is hardly noticeable.

Three choices to start out FSX on Steam cost about $5 on special. Is now fairly obsolete and as a 32 bit program no longer supported by Microsoft. Has a good range of free scenery and aircraft available and a good training program to teach to fly if you spend the time. X-plane download a sample for free but only covers a small region. cost $70 lots of free stuff to tinker with. Not the best yet but may be the future. P3D for those who are serious but it costs $70 for the academic and not a lot of freeware.

Yes, With change of CEO for microsoft Flightsim abandoned....licenced for entertainment to Dovelink (steam) who could maake limited changes only and they did fix lots of bugs. The steam product is a good one for price (now 500b) with some good bundles at good prices during sales. I recomend it for someone just starting to see if they like it but if serious should move on fairly quickly without investing too much money. Lockeed Martin bought full licence for non entertainment. Have signifigently changed it....That is why licences are not valid for entertainment....but LM does not care about that....just do not smile when flying. Steam have a space flight addon for fsx coming this winter.
