This is going to get real funny when they realise that they have thrown out all of the cheap backpack TEFLers and they realise that they have a native English teacher shortage. I suppose that they will be happy to pay top dollar to those remaining. |

I suppose that they will be happy to pay top dollar to those remaining. The local schools only stopped pestering me when I pointed out my visa didn't allow work. |

Last time they had a clamp down in Phuket every flight to Udon was packed. I couldn't get a seat at my local for a week.

I'm scared to walk past the school on Soi 22 in fear of being dragged in and tortured by a gang of six year olds who want me to sing Jingle Bells. Surely a misunderstanding. Every Thai knows it's "Jinger Bens".  |

"“Between Oct 1-14, 583 foreigners in Phuket were found to have overstayed their visas. In addition, 880 foreigners were found to have entered the country illegally or violated the Alien Working Act B.E. 2521."
Of course, it is possible that there's a real market for English teachers on Phuket with it's hundreds of (English) teacher starved schools, but I doubt it. More details are required before I can come to any conclusion apart from 'insufficient data'

As concerned citizen I have the right to know, at least that's what I understand from other concerned citizens like 88 who's also on an Island not too far from Phuket. Furthermore as Dutch uncle and Chief Advisor of the Nation Big Brother Watchgroup I can tell you that the obfuscation is on purpose as the 'grab the nasty illegal farang' campaign is not yet concluded. I'm preparing demands to the government to make it mandatory for non-locals to carry and show IDs at all times and allow the local police to perform on-sight strip searches on even the slightest suspicion of possible illegal activities. We think that buying large quantities of inflammable liquids should be possible with permits only. This would of course include liquids with higher alcohol percentage. Imagine what a terrorist could do hiding such liquid in a metal object, like a hipflask  |
