I guess Saudi Arabia referred to the 'Great Ball of Fire' they shared with Trump "Saudi Arabia says it is a beacon of light fighting ‘dark’ Iran Foreign minister accuses media of hysteria in reporting the death of Jamal Khashoggi Saudi Arabia’s foreign minister has described the kingdom as a “vision of light” in the region as it tries to control the fallout from Jamal Khashoggi’s killing – its biggest diplomatic crisis since the 9/11 attacks. After more than two weeks of international outrage over the journalist and dissident’s death, Adel al-Jubeir sought to portray the country as the moral beacon of the Middle East, in stark opposition to Iran, Saudi Arabia’s arch-rival." www.theguardian.com/world/2018/oct/27/saudi-arabia-beacon-of-light-iran-darkness-jamal-khashoggi-turkey

Nice one rgs, never realised Christianity was allowed in Iran. Will have a deeper look into it to see how much or how little discrimination they suffer and how much personal freedom they have.

Iran has a more open society than the Americans would have us or in fact would lik us to both know and believe. Just consider Iranian history, but then it was known as Persia a country rich in intellectual and educated progressives. Below a taster for those who wish to learn. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Persian_people

To put that into context it now apparently has approx only 10% of the numbers it had at the time of the Islamic revolution.

To put that into context it now apparently has approx only 10% of the numbers it had at the time of the Islamic revolution. It's not that I really doubt the figures, but you should provide context rather than suggesting. What with all nonsense some here come up with the reason for decline might be . active oppression . forced conversion . forced or 'suggested' emigration . killed . become faithless For Saudi Arabia it's simple, "we only have the faithful, the others left of own free will ages ago" (problem dissolved as it were). Iraq similar, Syria similar, Israel similar, Libanon similar, Iran similar, Pakistan similar, India similar, Myanmar similar. Western World seems to drop Christianity. In a recent report from the Dutch Central Bureau of Statistics we have "Over half of the Dutch population are not religious" www.cbs.nl/en-gb/news/2018/43/over-half-of-the-dutch-population-are-not-religiousProbably in other European countries a not really different trend.

I have only had a brief look at the subject. Figures quoted were, then between 100,000-150,000, now between 12,000-15,000.
However I do feel keenly your reprimand for not providing detailed analysis of these figures, and will spend many hours poring over learned tomes until I have such information to hand. And of course I will provide the source of said information.

It's a pity that nowadays the 'obvious' means that what someone WANTS to see or be seen. In this Iranian case, I don't have much doubt that the decrease was pushed by the government and not always 'in a nice way'

Iran, , read up on its history, what Uncle Sam, the CIA and their puppet Shah did to that country is a effin disgrace, no wonder the people rose up. Lets start back in 1953, thats where it all kicked off. Persia/Iran a country that has been around for thousands of years, long before the world had ever heard of Israel, Iraq, Lebanon, Saudi etc, all artifical man made states that didnt exist 100 years ago.
